The Ceramics Festival, Caldas da Rainha is a set of initiatives whose purpose is to promote and disseminate the ceramics, one of the identifying features of our land and one of our greatest ambassadors around the world.

The Ceramics Festival is one of the many annual events in Caldas da Rainha.

Curated by Professor João Bonifácio Serra, the Ceramics Festival aim is “create new reasons to meet the Caldas through its talented side, through its heritage and through culture as a social practice,” the commissioner reveals to Gazetta das Caldas.

The Ceramics Festival program includes MOLDA, a biennial that promotes and “appreciates the multiple strands of ceramic activity in a city that has developed it since its inception, more than five centuries ago.”

In 2016 the program of the Ceramics Festival is developed in six areas: Knowledge, training and research; School Host: ESAD.CR; exhibitions; Launch New Projects; Editions and Portuguese Association Cities Ceramics.

October: Culinary Creations exploring the relationship between food and ceramics – Organization: Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo do Oeste

October: Evocation and tribute to Rafael Salinas Calado – Organization: Municipality of Caldas da Rainha / Municipality of Torres Vedras

November: Revista de Cerâmica – will have an annual basis. Each number can have a thematic dossier with curatorial organization. Organization: ESAD.CR

From September there are also provided various publications always with the theme of ceramics in Caldas da Rainha as the main subject and is also expected to present a video dedicated to Ferreira da Silva, one of the greatest ambassadors of Caldas ceramics in recent decades.

There are also ideas for new project for the year 2017 such as anOpen call a propostas de autores e ateliês de cerâmica artística organized by the Arts Center; Olimpíadas da Cerâmica organized by Secondary School Rafael Bordallo Pinheiro, the creation of Loja dos ceramistas and Residências para ceramistas organized by the Art Centre.
