Caldas da Rainha
Largo Conde Fontalva
Known among caldenses as the “Queen”, this is a special place for the locals because it is there where you will find the tribute monument to Caldas da Rainha founder, Queen Leonor.
By Francisco Franco, this statue was built at the expense of donations from local and national private institutions and it was inaugurated on 15 September 1935.
The work plaster outline can be seen in the Jose Malhoa Museum.
The Conde Fontalva Square is a central location, any direction chosen starting from the “Queen” you will find local attractions, as the SANA Silver Coast, former Lisbonense Hotel, the D. Carlos I Park, Camões Street that takes you to the Thermal Hospital, General Queirós Street that leads you to the Republic Square, but also the 5 October lane that guides you to the 5 October Square and at last but not the least the Vitorino Fróis Street that ends on a Fountain and puts you on the path to Foz do Arelho.
The hardest part is to choose which direction to go.
