Another important museum attraction of Caldas da Rainha is the Hospital and Caldas Museum that will take you in a journey throughout the history of the worlds’ first Thermal Hospital and the story that lies behind the city.
Opened in 1999, this museum is located in the former “Caza Real” (today designated as Royal Palace), a place with a special connection to the Portuguese Royal Family, a constant presence in Caldas da Rainha during the bathing season.
The estate’s of the Hospital and Caldas Museum refer to the hospital history, the thermal techniques practiced there and to the city’s’ identity.
A wide range of documentary evidence, artistic, religious and scientific history of the thermal technics and Caldas da Rainha is displayed there.
As a complement to the permanent exhibition, occasionally temporary exhibitions are shown telling you more about the cities’ history.
